System Administrator

We're a venture-backed start-up who recently raised our series A funding, released a beta product into the market and are ready to take the world by storm. We'll be growing our user base to 1 million users within the next 18 months and need a team of outstanding people.

Position:

A self-driven and technically gifted systems administrator is requires to join the SynthaSite infrastructure team. The position inludes systems support of the tools running an international start-up and ongoing automations. There is plenty of room for career growth.

Location:

Cape Town, South Africa

Key responsibilities:

• Support and maintenance of the current infrastructure that the team operates against.
• Support and extension of a continuous integration system.
• Contributions to project based work.
• Agile documentation of systems and specifications.
• Working on Linux servers environments.
• Ability to diagnose systems issues and trouble-shoot them
• Automation of repititive tasks
• Ability to work effectively with software developers and support staff.
• Contributing to the engineering of quality and innovative infrastructure

Required Skills And Experience:

• Working experience with Linux servers.
• Experinece with MySQL, PostgreSQL or other Linux-based relational database.
• Shell scripting.
• A passion for maintanable systems.
• Experience using Python or Ruby for scripting an advantage.
• Experience with application servers an advantage.
• Experience with Java and/or PHP an advantage
• BSc Comp Sci, Diploma or equivalent experience
• A "Get things done" attitude - we're in start-up mode, so every team member is jumping in and doing whatever needs to be done to build the world's best online publishing tool
